The pleasant climate all year round makes Tenerife one of the favourite destinations for those who want a haven to enjoy a warm winter. Hence, the island’s beaches become the perfect place to usher in the new year and to pass the winter months.  Here is a selection of some of our favourites.

La Tejita, in Granadilla de Abona and Las Vistas, in Arona, are two of the most popular beaches of southern Tenerife, as their fine sand, blue sky and radiant sunshine most of the time make them small paradises. On the beach of La Tejita, you will come into direct contact with nature under the shadow of an imposing monster-shaped mountain and with a splendid view of the waves.  Las Vistas, an urban beach in the heart of the southern resorts, is ideal for families with children who also want to enjoy sea sports.

Northwards, we recommend a stop at the beach of San Marcos, in Icod de Los Vinos. With its black volcanic sand and generally calm waters, it is a true gem of this corner of Tenerife.

The coastal zone known as Isla Baja also features beautiful beaches to spend a pleasant day out beside the sea. For example, Agua Dulce in Los Silos, a beach with pebbles and volcanic sand, or Playa Las Mujeres, on the coast of Buenavista del Norte, a secluded cove with volcanic sand and pebbles, a veritable haven for all those who love unspoilt nature.

Very close to the metropolitan area, we find some of the most popular beaches both for tourists and locals. Bajamar and La Punta del Hidalgo, along the coast of La Laguna, are splendid spots where you not only find sandy beaches but also rock pools with the stunning view of Mount Teide in the background. In Santa Cruz, naturally, we must mention the emblematic beach of Las Teresitas, with its golden sand and calm waters, one of the flagships of the city; but if you prefer somewhere magical and unspoilt, visit Benijo or Roque de Bodegas, we assure you the experience is really worthwhile.

Of course, make the most of the visit not only to sunbathe, stroll along the seafront or have a swim, but also to try delicious Canary food in the restaurants and beach bars along our seashore.
